European Art Bienniale Febbrile of Stia. A historical event.
The Stia Biennial is the most traditional
wrought iron event held on a regular basis in Italy since 1976.

From the seed
of an idea.
Born from an idea of Pier Luigi della Bordella and Ivan Bruschi, with the fundamental support of Vittoriano Frulloni, the mayor of Stia at the time, this is the doyenne of the Forged Iron Artistic Craftsmanship Exhibitions that are continuously held throughout the world.
Over the years, this event has proved to be the most important point of reference in the world panorama of Forged Iron Art, simultaneously becoming an opportunity to make the Casentino Valley known, with a view to a profitable exchange between culture, craftsmanship and promotion of the territory.
This is yet another fundamental demonstration of the sensitivity and natural predisposition that the people of Casentino have towards craftsmanship and proof, for national and European observers, that Tuscany is still the cradle of the civilisation of craftsmanship and applied art.

A stimulus for creativity, for every corner of the world.
This Biennial has the merit of having continually stimulated in the general public a new interest in the artistic iron artefact, summoning to council, every two years, the interpreters of an ancient craft civilisation, giving them the opportunity to meet to stimulate their creative spirit and refine their working techniques thanks to that indispensable transfer of ideas that Stia is able to achieve.
Stia has always opened its doors to both masters and young blacksmiths from all over the world, earning international recognition as an ‘Event Without Borders’, an undisputed showcase of high quality wrought iron craftsmanship.
A prodigious effort with the admirable purpose of protecting and enhancing an age-old tradition that has been present in the Casentino valley since the Middle Ages: who does not remember, in Dante’s Divine Comedy, the cunning Master Adam of Brescia, perhaps the most skilled forger of the time, who forged Fiorini for the family of the Counts Guidi of Romena (whose castle rises majestically in the Casentino skyline).

A unique event
of its kind.
Wrought iron in the true sense of the word.
Never indulging too much in showy interventions of excessively advanced technologies. A tenaciously sustained protection, even dialectically, of a product that must remain authentically ‘d.o.c.’; not a timeless and incorrigible conservatism, but a conscious commitment to an open confrontation in defence of an Art that has re-created its own space, leaning towards the needs of the future.
As has already been emphasised on several occasions, the last editions marked a point of arrival but above all a point of departure towards a future of the Biennale increasingly linked to the interpenetration of forging, applied art and design.
This event is flanked by many initiatives including Lanificio ‘Spazio vuoto_Incubatore di Idee’, ‘Campionato del Mondo di Forgiatura’, ‘Concorso Internazionale di Progettazione e Disegno Pier Luigi della Bordella’, ‘Concorso Internazionale di Scultura’ and ‘Concorso Fotografico’.
